Eye water (Latin humor aqueous ) is a clear liquid that fills the eye chambers.
It is produced in the ciliary body at a rate of about two microliters per minute. The ratio of formation and outflow of aqueous humor is constantly equal, and in the case of an increased ratio of formation to outflow, there is an increase in eye pressure. It consists of approximately 99% water containing proteins, enzymes, minerals, sugar and other substances. Its role is to nourish the lens and part of the cornea because they do not have their own blood flow.
