Beings with two eyes receive two images that merge into one visual sensation.
The consequence of binocular viewing is the measurement of absolute and relative distances. Because the eyes are spaced apart, each eye forms a different image of the same object, at a different location on the retina. This gives us the impression of depth of field, a feeling of spaciousness (stereoscopic viewing).
